Voice Coil
Design
In a voice coil actuator, also known as a moving coil actuator, the Lorentz force is at work. Unlike an electromagnet, the magnitude of the force is directly proportional to the current and acts without delay. The direction of the force reverses when the current direction is reversed, enabling bidirectional movements with equal force.
Usage
Voice coils are well-suited for highly dynamic and precise positioning applications. Thanks to their excellent controllability (fast response and low hysteresis), voice coils are ideal for controllable and reproducible motion tasks with a long service life. They also effectively meet requirements for low noise generation, minimal overshoot, and very sensitive force control.
